Saturday 4th of May – TREEmendous Event

For those that don’t know TREEmendous (http://treemendous.org.nz/) – is a joint initiative between the Mazda Foundation (http://mazdafoundation.org.nz) and Project Crimson (http://projectcrimson.org.nz/), teaches children about the importance of caring for the environment through the development of amazing outdoor classrooms for teachers and students to reconnect with nature.

Four New Zealand schools are chosen each year to have an area of their grounds transformed into an inspiring outdoor learning space with native trees and plants. The immersive natural learning areas could include bird habitats, lizard gardens, vege gardens and fruit orchards and more. It’s a prize worth $10,000 and all primary and intermediate schools can apply.

Below are a few pictures from last Saturday where it took place at Konini Primary School in Wainuiomata. It was a great team effort where many people from the community including staff from Stevens Motors, gathered together to take part in the amazing transformation!

Photos don’t do it justice you will have to check it out sometime!
